The Air Force Safety Center announced a change to the Critical Days of Summer program. The change eliminates the requirement for installations to use a safety campaign within defined time period and, instead, allows leadership to choose the time period and focus in order to implement mishap prevention measures that best suit their mission needs.
The change is motivated by trending data that shows summer is not necessarily more dangerous than other times of the year at most bases. This is true in Air Force Space Command, where historically April is the most dangerous month for mishaps.
