Friday was the last day of the Drop Your Thesis! 2015 campaign at the ZARM Drop Tower in Bremen. After two weeks of intensive work and a few night
shifts, the Dropping Drops team from the Friedrich–Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg completed their campaign.
They created some of the biggest spherical water bubbles on Earth and studied the imbibition process on a porous medium.
Now that the experimental part is over, the data processing starts. The team already received some feedback from international experts who consider the preliminary data extraordinary. The videos recorded the generation of the water sphere and imbibition processes at 2000 frames per second and are not only extraordinary but also mesmerising.
