An abstract representation of the approximate number of ‘bolide events’ – meteoroids burning brightly in Earth’s atmosphere – between 1994 and 2016.
This representation was created by Carl Lomax, an artist and designer and current undergraduate at the UK’s Glasgow School of Art. It is one of a number of Space for Art artworks created to represent ideas linked to the Stardust Network, a four-year European research training group focused on asteroids and space debris.
ESA’s ESTEC technical centre in the Netherlands is hosting the final Stardust conference this week.
