An Enriched Shell Finite Element for Progressive Damage Simulation in Composite Laminates

Abstract: A formulation is presented for an enriched shell nite element capable of progressive damage simulation in composite laminates. The element uses a discrete adaptive splitting approach for damage representation that allows for a straightforward model creation procedure based on an initially low delity mesh.
