Abstract: To support the operation of the HERMeS 12.5 kW Hall Thruster for NASA’s Asteroid Redirect Robotic Mission, hollow cathodes using emitters based on barium oxide impregnate and lanthanum hexaboride are being evaluated through wear-testing, performance characterization, plasma modeling, and assessment of system implementation concerns.
