Fe-Containing Allophane and Hisingerite Dissolution and Implications for Gale Crater, Mars

Abstract: The mass-normalized dissolution rates measured in this study demonstrate that hisingerite and Fe-substituted allophane dissolve rapidly, much faster than crystalline phyllosilicates such as nontronite and kaolinite that have similar compositions. In addition, hisingerite dissolves more rapidly than allophane.
