In their first Air Force Space Command Guardian Challenge competition, the 690th Intelligence Support Squadron, Lackland AFB, emerged victorious, earning high marks for demonstrating their proficiency and expertise to support their mission area- Air Force network operations.
The 561st Network Operations Squadron, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. came in second followed by the 83rd Network Operations Squadron, Langley Air Force Base, Va.
Guardian Challenge has been an AFSPC tradition since 1967 when two ballistic missile wings and a combat targeting and aligning wing went toe-to-toe to determine the best. Since that time, the competition has grown to include every facet of AFSPC operations, from security forces to food services, and every AFSPC wing competes. The 2010 competition is the first year for the inclusion of the cyber mission.
