AF Space Command’s Guardian Challenge competition 2010 saw something truly unique – a mother and son team.
When the opportunity for a temporary duty as Guardian Challenge ‘Team Wrangler’ presented itself, US Air Force Reserve Staff Sgt .Lynda Fauland, an aerial transportation craftsman from the 39th Aerial Port Squadron, Peterson AFB, jumped to be part of it. Once selected, she requested to fill the position with the 689th Combat Communications Wing because her son, Airman 1st Class Frank Fauland was a 52nd Combat Communications Squadron, transmission systems apprentice and a member of the 5th Combat Communications Group Combat Challenge team.
