THURSDAY SPACEWALK CANCELLED

The spacewalk scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 from the International Space Station has been postponed. As a result, the status briefing planned to discuss the upcoming extravehicular activity (EVA), at 2 p.m. EST, Tuesday, Dec. 10, from NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Houston, has been cancelled.

Postponement of the EVA, planned for Expedition Six Commander Ken Bowersox and Flight Engineer Nikolai Budarin, does not impact Expedition Six objectives, or the operations of the Station. The planned EVA tasks included outfitting the recently delivered Port 1 (P1) station truss segment and performing “get-ahead” tasks in preparation for the arrival of the next station truss segment, scheduled for launch in May 2003.

Planning of the next spacewalk is underway, however it is not anticipated to occur before January 2003.
