Abstract: There is renewed interest in developing new supersonic transports after the discontinuation of the Concorde supersonic jet, which was mostly limited for flights over trans-oceanic routes due to the severe noise of the sonic boom. In order to avoid the sonic boom, more slender configurations, such as the Low Boom Flight Demonstrator (LBFD) configuration, are being considered. The aeroelastic characteristics of these new supersonic transports can significantly differ from conventional aircraft….
