Abstract: Space provides an ideal vantage point from which to study the Earth. Spaceborne earth-orbiting active sensors are used to remotely study the Earth’s land, ocean surface and atmosphere. They can be used to detect and monitor natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, fires, and mudslides and provide valuable information for response and recovery efforts.
