Abstract: The compositional and isotopic similarity of Earth’s primitive upper mantle (PUM) and the Moon has bolstered the idea that the Moon was derived from the proto-Earth, but the Moon’s inventory of volatile lithophile elements – Na, K, Rb and Cs – are lower than in Earth’s PUM by a factor of 4 to 5.
