When the Fluvial Dynamics and Hydrology research group at the University of Cordoba, led by Professor María José Polo, got to the Spanish Sierra Nevada in 2002, there were no weather stations above the height of 1,200 meters, meaning that there was a great deal of uncertainty regarding the measurements of everything that happened in the field of meteorology and hydrology between 1,200 meters and Mulhacen Peak at 3,479 meters.
