New simple device greatly improves analysis of reaction kinetics

Researchers at the University of Amsterdam’s Van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (HIMS) have developed a new device for measuring the kinetics of gas-producing reactions. This simple benchtop device, of which the details are publicly available, costs less than € 250 and weighs only 1500 grams. Yet it gives accurate reaction profiles with over 3000 measurements. It is also programmable for running temperature profiles, providing Arrhenius plots with hundreds of data points from a single experiment. This enables quick and efficient analysis of both kinetics and thermodynamics.
