The next SMC space launch is the STP-S26 mission scheduled for 19 November, 2010 from the Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska. The STP-S26 mission is directed by the Department of Defense Space Test Program who is chartered to provide access to space for experiments that advance the state-of-the-art by demonstrating technologies that will enhance military operational capability.
The Space Development and Test Wing, located at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM, is the host unit for the STP, providing leadership, oversight, and resource support. The DoD Space Experiment Review Board sets annual payload priorities for the STP to manifest and launch. The STP-S26 mission includes multiple research and development satellites carrying 11 SERB and 16 total experiments.
