40 Years Ago: STS-4, Columbia’s Final Orbital Flight Test

Space shuttle Columbia took to the skies on June 27, 1982, to begin its fourth trip into space. Astronauts Thomas K. “TK” Mattingly and Henry W. “Hank” Hartsfield rode the reusable spacecraft on a pillar of fire from Launch Pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida.
