AMSAT-UK held a fund-raising auction on eBay for Serial Number 200 of the popular Software Defined Radio (SDR) dongle, it sold for £430. The auction was held to raise funds for the FUNcube satellite currently under construction. FUNcube is an educational single CubeSat project with the goal of enthusing and educating young people about radio, space, physics and electronics. It also carries a 435/145 MHz linear transponder for SSB and CW communications. The FUNcube VHF/UHF SDR dongle usually sells for £125 and the price acheived exceeded all expectations. The purchaser of the dongle will also have their name or callsign sent into space on FUNcube.Our thanks to all those who took part in the auction.
