Global warming undermines greenhouse gas sink function of pristine wetlands, shows study

Wetlands occupy about 6% of the Earth’s surface but store one-third of global soil organic carbon. Increasing evidence shows that climate warming is altering the function and service of wetland ecosystems. However, whether climate warming will stimulate wetlands to release more greenhouse gases (GHGs) is still under debate.
