Mount Nemrut captured from the International Space Station on 23 November 2023 by ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen. When Andreas shared the picture on social media, he said:
“I am always blown away by the unexpected things we see from Cupola.
The other day, as I was floating past Cupola, my eyes were immediately caught by this huge caldera. A little sleuthing on the internet revealed that it is Mount Nemrut, a dormant volcano in Turkey. I like how clear and distinct the caldera is, and it even has a lake in it.”
