This is the 57th known asteroid to fly past Earth within one lunar distance (LD) since the start of the year and the fourth so far this month.
Asteroid 2025 KF was first observed by MAP, San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, on May 19 — two days before its expected flyby.
The object belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 10 and 23 m (33 and 75 feet). Depending on its composition and trajectory, an object of this size would likely survive atmospheric entry and break apart into multiple fragments.
The flyby is expected to take place at 17:30 UTC (±00:19) on May 21.
