CryoSat is the European Space Agency’s ice mission.
It measures the ice sheets covering Greenland and Antarctica, sea ice in the Arctic and Southern oceans, global mountain glaciers, as well as sea level and inland waters.
After 15 years in space, CryoSat has one of the longest records of global ice in existence. Its measurements underpin critical climate studies and contribute to operational marineforecasting services.
A new operational Snow Depth on Sea Ice gridded product, which leverages complementary radar and laser measurements from the European Space Agency’s CryoSat and NASA’s ICESat-2 satellites, marks a first for global ice research and applications.
It’s part of the Cryo-TEMPO thematic product portfolio, which delivers state-of-the-art CryoSat products to a broad range of users, particularly those new to CryoSat data.
Seven thematic products – Winter and Summer Sea Ice, Land Ice, Coastal and Polar Oceans, Inland Waters, and now Snow Depth on Sea Ice – allow quick and easy access to CryoSat’s unique, long-term satellite record of global ice and water.
