Asteroid 2025 PU1 was first observed at GINOP‑KHK, Piszkesteto in Hungary at 23:55 UTC on August 13 — about 4 hours after it made the closest approach.
The asteroid belongs to the Apollo class of asteroids and has an estimated diameter between 2 and 3 m (6.6–9.8 feet). This size places it among the smaller asteroids recorded passing within 1 LD of Earth this year.
Its next approach to Earth is expected on April 3, 2036, at a distance of 0.080 AU.
