ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot takes part in European Enhanced Exploration Exercise Device (E4D) training at the European Astronaut Centre in Cologne, Germany. This advanced exercise system is designed to maintain muscle and bone health during long-duration missions and can simulate different gravity levels, from Earth to Mars.
Scheduled to arrive on the International Space Station in April 2026 during ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot’s εpsilon mission, E4D will undergo installation in the European Columbus module followed by a technology demonstration phase where several crew members will test up to 100 exercise variations.
