This image comparison from Copernicus Sentinel-2 shows the Lefka Ori mountain range in southwestern Crete before and after the storm Erminio reached the island.
In the left image captured before the storm on 30 March 2026, the mountains appear largely covered in snow, while the image on the right from 19 April shows a reduced snow cover, with patches visibly tinted in red by the Saharan dust brought on the region by the storm Erminio.
