Abstract: This presentation describes the assimilation of airborne measurements of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the Goddard Earth Observing System (GEOS) general circulation model. The main goal is to construct observationally constrained fields of CO2 starting from the bottom of the atmosphere and extending through the entire vertical column.
