Abstract: As NASA looks towards human missions to Mars, an effort has started to advance the technology of a Mars in situ resource utilization (ISRU) Propellant Production Plant to a flight demonstration. This paper will present a design study of the Sabatier subsystem. The Sabatier subsystem receives carbon dioxide, CO2, and hydrogen, H2, and converts them to methane, CH4, and water, H2O.
