For a carbon-neutral UK, the next five years are critical – here's what must happen

The U.K. was one of the first nations to legislate a net zero emissions target in June 2019. Other nations have since followed suit, most significantly China. Xi Jinping, the leader of the world’s largest polluter, promised to bring his country’s net carbon emissions to zero by 2060 during a speech to the U.N. in September 2020.
